I love award shows! I feel like if you love the arts and performing you kind of have to love award shows. One of the best parts of award shows to me is what everyone choose to wear. There's only two things people care about after the show airs, who won and who wore what. I used to love to watch those fashion talk shows the day after, they would either trash people or prasie people no in between and they weren't afriad to do so.
Every time a new oscars comes around, I'm always rushing to see the movies I haven't seen already, but when it comes to the makeup and hairstyling category, I feel like I don't have to really see the whole movie. You can look at pictures and tell if you want them to win or not. There's probably a lot that goes into picking the nominees that I don't know about. So this is a none professional, beauty blogs take on who I think will win the 2022 Oscar for the best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Now let's go over the nominees:
COMING 2 AMERICA Mike Marino, Stacey Morris and Carla Farmer

HOUSE OF GUCCI Göran Lundström, Anna Carin Lock and Frederic Aspiras
Film Synopsis In 1978, ambitious office manager Patrizia Reggiani entrances House of Gucci scion Maurizio Gucci, who goes against his father's wishes to marry her. Their love story eventually devolves into a morass of greed, revenge and murder as they and others in the Gucci family battle for control of the fashion house.
So out of those 5, I saw 2 of the movies, I kept up with the other 2 that I didn't see and didn't really know what one of them was. Let's go over the ones I know.
Coming to America 👑
I loved the first movie, so hearing there was a second I was excited but nervous. Sometimes when they take a classic and re-do it, they mess up, but I really liked this one it was funny. When It comes to the makeup and hair, I would say they did great !
I feel like they really tired to enhance the new movie by adding brighter and richer colors to the characters. Showing the audience that things got better and kept getting better as time went on. It was nice to see my skin color be celebrated in such a way. Their makeup was flawless, from eyebrows to foundation to lips. Then you have to talk about the character makeup that was done, it looked amazing! I remember watching the first movie and not realizing the older Jewish man was Eddie Murphy, the makeup had me so thrown off, It was perfect!
The hair was just beautiful! Someone who does, my son, my boyfriends and my own natural hair often. I know it's not easy to do. The hairstyling for this movie was amazing. They took their time to plan out African braiding styles that would compliment the actors and the movie all at once, and as you can see the hairstyles are very detailed you can just see the hard work and talent that went into making these ladies look so gorgeous.

Cruella 🐾
As much as I loved the acting in this movie, I wasn't blown away with the hair and makeup. Not as much as the other movies, but let's talk about that.
They introduced the movie with cruella having the half white, half black hair and it being her real hair. It looks like to me that they might have dyed one half of this little girls hair for the movie, and if so I love it. The idea that she was born that way was great and then she "grows up" and dyes her hair all one color to fit in. I wish she didn't dye her hair. The wig just weren't doing it for me and I couldn't get over it as the movie went on. The more brave and strong she got, she should have dyed her real hair back to the way she was by the end.
Moving on to makeup, it was fun, it was creative, and it was sexy! The makeup fit the character very well. It helped show the story of her getting stronger through out the movie. The makeup piece of her black face and all you see is the future is so good. Even the makeup looks she had were she was supposed to look a mess were great. I think everyone jumped on doing the cruella makeup trend when it was going on here was mine:

DUNE🌪
I haven't seen this one yet, but I plan too! The cast looks great and I loved the show foundation on Apple TV which looks similar. Hair and makeup looks very light for this movie. To me it looks like they went more of the almost nothing way. Mess hair/buns, dry looking and dull to go with the time and place. It all makes sense but compared to the others I don't think I measures up. I feel they could of tried something simple like dots or lines maybe but from pictures I didn't see anything really.
I do on the other hand like the small detail of scaring from past or current fighting.

I didn't know about this movie or this women. So I read up on her and watched some videos. Let's get straight into the hair and makeup.
I feel like it was a hit or miss with this one. Some makeup looks matched well and others loved like it was off a bit. Some hair was good and other wigs looked like it wasn't styled right. Bio movies are always judged harsh, you can get it all the way right or all the way wrong and for the makeup and hair for this movie was a miss for me.

HOUSE OF GUCCI💰
This movie is number one on my watch list! I love lady gaga and her acting gets better every time. I'm so happy she's exploring her acting side and taking on hard roles, but let's talk about the makeup and hair.
Yes gaga, she was looking amazing. The makeup, I think looked very good and matched very well with how the woman used to wear hers. The wigs were hit or miss for me though. Some look like they were worked on before they put it on her head and others looked like they just through it up there.

For final thoughts I am going to say that I think Coming 2 America will win for Best Makeup and Hairstyling 2022. The hair alone takes over every category and then the makeup looked very pretty, I can't imagine them not winning!
