Protective hairstyles are such an important part of natural hair. They help your hair grow, stay healthy and strong. Most curly heads have gone through a lot of different hair braiding experiences, whether your sitting in a braiding salon for half of your day or attempting to make it happen yourself, and we know what we like for our selfs. I feel like every time I look someone is trying to create a new look or a new trend, but nothing is better then the classic do's. They look good they feel good, some times lol and they can last you a while! Braids are just perfect honestly and I have the top 3 protective braid hairstyles that won't go out of style even in 2022.

Box Braids

I feel box braids are thee most popular style most woman/girls get when first starting off, or just wanting something to get that's simple that you can do a lot with. A lot of people like a simple hairstyle. As classic as they are there's still new and old kinds, like, the rubber band method vs knotless. Short Box braids vs Long, Crochet vs Poetic justice braids etc. I love the classic braids that hit the middle of your back and look neat and simple.

Faux Locs

I have to say I love a faux loc hair-do! I love the look of natural locs and for people like me who don't want to really loc their real hair up, this style is perfect for you! It's probably the easiest and quickest style to put in your hair and the older they get the more natural. It's a win, win really !

Heres a tiktok tutorial video I did on my faux locs :

Cornrows

So I have only had cornrows twice in my life, but it seems like everyone loves a cornrow do. My mother loved this hairstyle when I was growing up. The first time I ever had cornrows was when I did them myself a couple of days before I gave birth to my son. I actually really liked them but by the time I gave birth they was looking a mess! Mostly because I sweated them out in delivery lol. The second time was when my boyfriend took me to the same place he gets his cornrows done. They came out beautiful, but they were find of itchy on the back of neck and I struggled with the idea of having the same hairstyle for so long. I love to switch up my hair as much as possible, which is why I love loose braids more.

A classic style is just that and you can't change it, but don't be afraid to try something new. I think the next time I do a protective braid style, it might be something like passion twist of goddess braids. They are so out of my confront zone but I could still try lol.

Here are my affiliate links to some products I like to use when doing my braid protective hairstyles:

See you in my next article beauty baddie!

CartersBeautyDeals.com

Iโ€™ve been a curly girl for some time now. I first did my big chop my sophomore year of high school and never touched that creamy crack again! Since then I have tired so many curly hair products I probably couldnโ€™t remember half of them but there were some that let a lasting impression on my curls and I feel itโ€™s only right I share with my fellow curly heads. With my affiliate links I will show you my top 5 curly hair products I recommend. These are my favorite products Iโ€™ve used throughout my curly hair journey.

  1. Miss Jessieโ€˜s Curly Pudding.

Even though it may be more on the pricey side then other curly products, it is worth the price honestly. My curls have always come out smelling amazing, which is the most important part lol, bouncy, soft and shiny. I can also achieve very tight curls with this curly pudding and they donโ€™t disappear throughout the day! One other very important thing is even if I used to much product, Iโ€™m not left with the ugly white flakes of dried up product thatโ€™s left on your hair when it doesnโ€˜t dry right. So many times a beautiful curly afro was ruined by white flakes! You can find this on Amazon at a better price then normal, for $10

2. SheaMoisture Smoothie Curl Enhancing Cream

Shea moisture was my number one for a long time before I found Miss Jessieโ€™s but donโ€˜t get me wrong shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie is still a great product for my curls. I love the thickness and consistency of this product, it makes it easy to use a little at a time, so it can last longer. My hair seems to absorb the cream well and it drys nice to a very soft light curl. It almost feels like thereโ€™s no product in my hair at all. You can find this on Amazon for $11

3. Curls Blueberry Bliss Twist-N-Shout Cream

Well, first lets just start with the fact that it smells like blueberry, and then lets talk about that fact that itโ€™s even the color blue my favorite color ! I usually use this curly hair product when I want to have a really fluffy twist out. Itโ€™s great at keeping the curls in a twist out soft and defined from root to end. Which I really love because I hate puffy roots. Almost on the pricey side but another worth it product ! You can find this on Amazon for $15 ๐Ÿ› : https://amzn.to/3fhE7ct

4. Cantu Coconut Curling Cream

This was one of my first curly hair products in my hair regimade. This is a great product for new people to the curly head crew. A very light water based product. I loved to use this when I had my big chop mostly because of how moistured it made my hair and how well it defined my curls. As my hair grew through I found my hair was not really feeling this like before, my curls looked heavy to me, I saw my hair also wasnโ€˜t absorbing the product like I would like it to. So if you just big chopped or your about to I would try this out to start with. You can find this on amazon for $6 ๐Ÿ› : https://amzn.to/3GjrsBW

5. Pattern Styling Cream

Iโ€˜n not going to lie I wasnโ€™t going to try this at first. I usually donโ€™t even think about getting celebrity hair products and then I saw the prices and really wasnโ€˜t going to get it, but then I was in Burlington and saw they had it on sell so I decided to try it and Iโ€™m so happy I did ! This styling cream is so amazing ! The way it left my curls light and bouncy I was really impressed. The second and third day hair wasnโ€™t bad either. After a while I had the whole collection and it didnโ€™t disappoint ! You can get it on Amazon for a bundle deal with the leave in conditioner for $31 ๐Ÿ›: https://amzn.to/33bECCr

I am no where done finding the very best curly hair products for me. My hair changes it's needs all the time so I'm sure I will be updating this list soon lol. Don't be afraid to try a bunch of products on your journey because not every product works the same for everyones hair. Even if you may have the right hair type for that product, your hair just might not be feeling it so explore.
